I have been terribly busy with school work as of late and all my crafting has sort of been put on hold. Not to mention I just started a year long process of testing for my black belt in my kung fu school. I recently got a job as well, which aids to my education since I am paying for all my classes right now. I am also using my money to purchase a lovely Djembe from my african drum teacher!!! it's around $400 but it's definatley worth it. :)
I have actually sewed quite a bit lately since I got a sewing machine for my birthday. I made an infinity dress, a pair of pants, a couple of tops, and a cute cover up skirt for my friend's bikini bottom.
Of course, I don't have pictures -.-
I am also saving up for a laptop so I can have an actual database in which to upload those things :p
ahhh money.

Finals are next week though! so I will have an entire week off before my summer semester starts! Hopefully that will result in crafting some awesome items inbetween then.

Hi y'all.
I haven't been up to much, I just started a reggae/rasta swap on Crafter.org (if anyone is interested http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=200423.0).

Also to you who don't know, I just started getting into African drumming a month ago and did my first performance last week!! I have a long way to go, but I love it and I love the people that I get to spend time with.

On other matters, I will get my hair dreaded in November!! yay!!! I would probably get it dreaded sooner but my dreader doesn't get to have the hours upon hours of time to spend on my hair until Nov, so oh well.

On crafting terms I haven't been really doing anything. I know I'll be crafting for my swap, but I probably will go tam crazy once I get my dreads. Hmmm I'll also need to start making my list for christmas crafts that I need to complete (I'm broke as usual).

Anyway, I have to get back to my homework

Sooo I entered all my items in the knitting and crocheting section of the county fair annnnddd I got Teen Best in Show annnnd first place for all 11 of my items!!!!

I'll be taking pictures when I go to the fair this saturday for a kung fu demo. :)

That way you can all see my "award-winning" knitting, hehehe.

I haven't updated in forever, I've been really busy plus my camera cable decided to die.
Anyway, the news is I knit/crocheted an AWESOME tam for my boyfriend that HE designed ( I'm going to knit him a jacket that he also designed for christmas, and a pair of gloves that we both sorta came up with together). Then I knit a goorgeous autumn jacket. I promise I'll try and post pictures soon. The jacket is really really gorgeous, it even looks beautiful on a hanger (not that I use hangers¬_¬) Right now I'm working on the Celtic Icon sweater that i think I posted a picture awhile back of the finnished design... I'm doing mine in black and red, I'm almost done with the back and the cable is so beautiful.

On other news, I'm entering 10 different knitted and crocheted pieces into the local County Fair. I was way too afraid to enter any of my art because it's just hung out in the open and I'm worried that it would fall and break, thankfully the knitting and crochted items are behind glass cases. So wish me luck!

And of course on a non-knitting subject, I finnished my over the summer intensive Chinese class (16 hours a week for 7 weeks... yeah it was amazing). It was exremely sad to have to say good bye to our AMAZING teacher! She was just the best everrr, we gave both our teacher and her assistant many gifts and both of them cried while saying good bye. We were so sad that we wouldn't see our teacher again even though we would be taking Chinese in the fall, we'd have a different teacher. BUT THEN! the head of the college got our teacher to come back and we got to have her again!! yayayyy!! So I'm taking some college classes now and can say I'm in two colleges ;) ;) yaup, the end

Lots of pictures.... I used the pattern in Knitter's Lib and used RASTA colors :p I used Lion Brand's microspun and it took about a day. Personally I love it, and if I did get it wet it wouldn't stretch THAT much..... but my main concern is bending over >_> for obvious reasons.

I took an L t-shirt and ripped it up to create this. The shirt is from New Moon by the way. I found it sorta of amusing to have a really skimpy top with that line "If the definition of beautiful gets any thinner, no one will fit"

so I basically just ripped off the bottom 7 inches of the shirt, then I cut off the sleeves and neck line and then I cut the back and then sorta just cut it around so it would cover my boob right. Then I just poked holes and strung it up so it looked good. Though I left the very bottom with just one cut 'cause then I could tie it better.

Don't ask me, I just winged it :p

I want to reconstruct some black jeans or something. . . which is actually harder than one might think. . . mainly because there are none in my household.

So once I buy the stuff this is what I'm gonna do!!!

and yeah, I was bored. . . hence the pink shirt and blue dreads ^ ^;;;

What I plan on doing is buying red and green fabric and then cutting it out so that it widens on the end. Then slicing up the pant's sides and stitching the stripes in. THEN I was gonna cut off the top of the pants and make sorta a "wrap belt" so that it wrapped around the waist and buttoned on the side, that way I can stencil JAMAICA on it without having any zipper breaks. . . I will have a zipper though, which will be stitched under the wrap part.

Then I'ma make my awesome rasta and jamaican flag pockets.

yaup yaup, this is gonna rock.

OH AND I AM GOING TO DYE MY HAIR THESE WEEKEND!! rasta baby! Rasta!

It's terrible, I haven't been knitting much at all.
So far I'm on the second front to a new sweater I'm doing. . . I'll post pictures when I have time.

Anyway, so I'm thinking about getting broke. Sounds fun, ay? Yeah, well, I'm going to be dying my hair three different colors (Red yellow green, RASTA!) so there will go some change, then I have to buy my Otakon tickets. . $50

BUT... since I'm going to be making my lovely otakon outfit thingeh, I need a new sewing machine because mine just wants to eat fabric all day. Since I'm a poor teen, I think I'll probably buy one for around $200. But but but!! Then I can get into all my wonderful reconstruction clothing!! w00t. I had plans to knit Jamaican pants, where they're black with a red stripe running down the right leg and a green one on the left. AND THEN have a yellow belt that says "Jamaica" and and the front pockets will be rasta stripes and the back pockets will have the Jamaican flag.

So after having a power outage for a good 16 hours or so, I finally finnished Mariah.

I'm pretty happy with how she turned out, I didn't really have any troubles with her at all. I modified the hood by not doing the 13 st BO and I did a knit 2 with a cable on the edge.

I used about 7 skeins of Paton's Classic Wool (100% merino) in Leaf Green.

Well, you know how I got that new crochet hat book by Afya Ibomu? well, I've decided to crochet 30 hats in 30 days.

So far I'm on day 3 with my 3 hats ^ ^ I'll post pictures in 30 days :p muhaha

and as for Mariah? I just joined her up and I'm working on the upper shaping right before I get to the hood :)

REVERSE STRIPE HOODIE!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHH

I am in love with this hoodie. It's really soft, fits really well. . . and. . . . it's just awesome. I spent so much money on it O.o I don't even want to think about it. I think I used about 8 or 9 skeins of black and 4 skeins of red Lion brand Cashmere blend. $8 per skein ouchhh.

I really love the pockets, the fitting, the softness, AND THE HOOD!! I loved how the pattern had it decrease before BO so that it had a nice curve instead of those silly pointed hoods (which are also fine). I might edit the Mariah pattern to do the same thing when I get up to that point, I'm about 7" into the right front after which I begin joining the sleeves, fronts, and back together until I get to the hood. Ohhhh I can almost taste the other hoodie goodness. mmmmmmm

I have to say that I also really like zipper closures, probably just because I'm lazy and like to zip things. Or maybe because they're shiney. . . or maybe it's just the wonderful noise the make when you open and close them ten times in a row.

Anyway, in other news I got this WICKED AWESOME crochet book about hats called "Hip hats & cool caps" by Anya Ibomu. I really would suggest this to anyone that likes nifty funky hats. The dread hats and tams are pretty awesome. I can't wait to start crocheting some in RASTA colors to go along with my hair that I'll be dying in . . 2 weeks! yessssssssss!! :)

I also got my bellydancing sword, which is a gorgeous 3 lb schimitar. mmmmmmmmmm

My brother begged me to make him this hat (which is seen in Firefly with the character "Jayne Cobb" wearing it ). So I did it while watching Firefly ^ ^ Took about 6 or less hours.

yay my first pom-pom!!! The hat is made out of three shades of Lion Brand's "Jiffy" needless to say, it's really soft and warm.

He really likes it ^ ^
OH and I'm almost done with the sleeves for the Rev. Stripe hoodie and I did the left front of my Mariah :)

Okay, so I haven't been knitting a whole lot, but I did actually do some stuff over last weekend. I finnished the back for Mariah and JUST cast on for the left front (Apparently you start joining the sleeves on the back and the fronts, so that's why it looks a little short and is on holders)

I've made a little more progress on my reverse stripe hoodie, I finnished the back
and the two fronts.

I just cast on for the sleeves but it looks like I might run out of black yarn -sighs- I'm just glad I still have money for when I need to buy more

So, the socks are done. I took a couple weeks off from knitting, but I cast on for my mom's christmas present this morning!!!!!! I'm about 8 inches into it. . . it's so pretty. And the yarn is cheap, so I'll be able to afford it when I run out (my mom can't wear wool, so she has to have acrylic, which is great for budget!). Since I have about. . .$3 Hehhehe. Yeah, that's why my Mariah isn't going to be finnished for a few monthes. Well, it depends. I guess with christmas coming up, I'll ask for yarn for Mariah and my Stripe knit.1 hoodie.

Yeah, that should work. . . . :-p

Okay, I know i haven't been posting. That's for two reasons,

first off, I've been busy.

second off, I haven't been knitting, so there's nothing to post about!

So, I finally picked up Mariah again and worked on her some more (I haven't since the last post about her). . . SLEEVES ARE DONE! yessssssss, they're so gorgeous! I love cables, they're definatley infatuating. Anyway, while I was knitting the sleeves I had extra long needles so that I could hold both of them on at the same time. . . well, one of them had a slight curve, so I decided to straighten it.......... yeah, not good idea.

It's a good thing I had a spare one lying around, so then I switched the sleeves off and knit them seperatly for the last 3 rounds.

OKAY! So since the sleeves are off the needles and on the stitch holders, I should probably begin working on my christmas list.

Tomorrow morning is my first day at the tutoring school. It's homeschool moms that teach it. . . and we're homeschooled, but it's a semi school and you get to pick your subjects.
This is my first time. . yay, I feel like a real school kid, as my backpack weighs about 30 lbs.
Speaking of backpacks. . . today we were suppose to get "school supplies"; someone had this vision that we would be able to get out of the martial arts school in time to go shopping or something. Evidentally, I wasn't able to buy a backpack. Good ol' Lane isn't afraid to sport her 8 yr old Charmander backpack. Yes, you heard right, Charmander. As in, that pokemon with the firey tail.

It's a good thing I don't want to make any friends, lol.

Anyway, I finnished the back and fronts of the Central park hoodie, I'm 7" in on the sleeves (both being knit at once). So I have the hood and front edging left. .. when I actually have time to work on it, the thing goes by in a matter of minutes. Sadly, I normally don't. So I won't finnish until the weekend most likely.
I know what I'm going to pin in close with!! It's so pretty. . . you'll just have to wait and see :)

I modified one of the patterns from the Generation T book, I cut out the huge awesome picture instead of just the bottom and slashing the sleeves.
I like it. Though I certainly need to work on sewing skills

Also, I had this Logo shirt that I got paint on, so I slashed it too. It has an open back. No pattern

Today was my mum's birthday. So I got on the phone with my boyfriend and made a sushi cake!!! aren't you proud? :D and they don't taste posionous.

Okay, so for the neck I just crocheted it to make it smaller and in the back I did DC and the front SC so that the back wasn't swooped down so low. All in all, I think the neck is now the right size and I'm sort of fond of the crochet. But I'm willing to rip it out and knit it if Rox wants.

Neck & sleeve

Here's the neck.

7 1/2" laid out, but it looks like 20" around. yikes

and here's the upper part of the sleeve

about 5" and that means it's about 10" around. It should be good, I tried it on my arm before I sewed it on the body and it fit.

Wrist is 7" and length of arm is 14" and the armhole itself is about 11"

I love this yarn, I think I'm going to go buy some and knit up Mariah

I LOVE CABLING! It is so great, I don't get bored with it, but it's easy enough to do while blanked out watching the TV. :)

I'm wearing this shirt right now, it took me less than a day to knit. It's a little short because I made it out of scrap yarn so I didn't quite have enough >_> But I love it anyway, my mom says I look like Jane. . . -makes gorilla face- I used roughly 2 skeins of Lion Brand's Incredible yarn in color "accent on Black". The pattern is from Loop-d-loop

OH MAN, our neighbours were moving. And they had all of this stuff on the curb! And so we couldn't let it go to waste, we did wait until it was almost time for pick up, just to make sure :p but my dad went over. . and he opened this huge bag and said "oh, I think there's yarn in here"

So it's all cheap yarn, and this use to be twice as full (I took out the stuff I didn't like and donated it)

I'm doing a lot of worsted weight projects :p

Here's my bellydancing stuffs I made, I used some random black worsted weight + Lion brand homespun + belly coins and an H crochet hook

I also finnished the first sock for my dad, they're really big on me, but he has wide feet. So it should fit. . . I think I'm going to run out of yarn for the second one though :/ It's knit in a non-sock yarn. teehee, Nashua's "June" & size 2 needles

And I got ahold of some china markers. .. and well, late at night I doodled on the cup from my 1 year anniversary (no, not marriage)

So now I have a PO box that my knitting can be sent to, anyone have any ideas how I can actually be able to (at least) pay it off for the year with knitting?

I was thinking of setting up a website with some help from my S.O. , I'd have some of my pre-made things that could be at set prices (unless they want me to substitute yarn) and a place for requesting designs, and also a "I HAVE A PATTERN BUT DON'T HAVE THE GUTS TO KNIT IT" section.
Suggestions?

I'm really addicted to this blog now -sigh-
Anyway, so I'm about 3 inches into the Adrienne shirt. "Nicole 1" I think it's called. I photographed my dressmaker's doll with my knitted designs, so I can submit it to Knitty.com :/ I didn't think of that solution until it was past the deadline (july 1st) so I'll submit and have to wait until dec. -cries- Oh well, patience, right?
I haven't been working on my icarus shawl really, it's sort of the bottom dweller in my knitting bag (it's more like a body bag). I want to work on it, but I also have to juggle doing my homework in time. And now I have to fill out my home-visit form for the homeschooling group I'm in; but that's not much work at all.

Yay, I only have 7 more essays to write for Chinese history class. Yippie. I'm reading the Three Kingdoms, it's fun! There are a lot of people though >_> a tad bit confusing at times, it reminds me of when I read the iliad, but it's an easier read, at least concerning format, it's more like the odyssey(sp?).

Yeah, okay, kung fu was pretty cool today. We did lion dance and stuffs, no weapons though. My dad pretested for his black belt! Shifu wants me and my brother to help him with training since we're not testing. I think it'll be fun, probably by the time my dad is done testing, I might start. I guess it depends on how long the testing runs, if it's 12 monthes, than I'll do it, 9? I don't know, maybe. I'll probably wait until june 2006. Maybe even a couple of years. . . I don't really want to be testing anytime soon, but I certainly welcome the extra training we have to do!! :D This will be sweet because I get all the nice hard work without the stress of testing. I'll be like muscle-queen and pound everyone into the ground when I finally test XD Okay, I probably won't be that good. So now everytime we break during a class (except if he has us putting our sparring gear on) I'm going to make my dad do a form with me :) He's just going to love me nagging on him to practice.
I have every right to rant about martial arts on this blog because it is titled "Knit with weapons!" So I wrote the knitting, now I'm doing the weapon part ^.^
I love being inside the Lion head, it's awesome. I just love messing around with the eyes and the mouth; though I have no idea if it looks good or not :p

I made another hat! This one is for Tim, since he tested for black belt. I'm fine with that, I didn't have to pay for yarn :D I also made Quest's Rastafarian headband. I think I need to remake Temple's though, it's wayyy too big.

The headbands take like. . I dunno 20 mins? So I don't really care about having to do it again.
I'm getting a P/O box this Wed! ^ ^ Then I can do commissions, I already have a lady who wants me to do a sweater for her kid. I guess I'll post progress photos here.
